Warm Cinnamon Apples

GLUTEN FREE

Want the quickest way to make your house smell like fall and receive a subliminal message to to watch every Halloween movie? Try making these warm cinnamon apples to bring the perfect fall smell and also a tasty, light treat to eat. I always make this on the first day that the weather starts to change and the leaves start dropping.

This recipe is full of flavor with very limited ingredients. It leaves the apples soft, yet the texture remains. We do not want apple sauce! Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that from starting to chop to finished product is less than 15 minutes! The most novice of chefs can impress with this recipe.

What ingredients are in this recipe?

Obviously apples!! My favorite apple to use for this recipe are Pink Lady, Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples as they can hold up to the heat for a longer period of time without loosing their form. We are not making apple sauce.

How to store the leftovers

Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for a maximum of 4 days. Reheat in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring occasionally. OR Reheat on the stove top stirring continuously until warm.

How to serve Warm Cinnamon Apples?

In the south of the United States in country cooking, these would be considered a side and could be eaten by themselves. For example at a barbecue, you would have the meat with a side off warm apples and side of potato salad or coleslaw or beans.

Serve on top of gluten free pancakes or ice cream

On top of a slice of my famous gluten free banana bread.

Use as a pie filling. If using as a pie filling be sure to use Granny Smith green apples as they hold up to baking the best.
