This creamy egg salad is a regular at my house for breakfast or lunch. It is quick and easy and naturally gluten free. Whenever I have eggs close to expiration, I hard boil them and prepare this salad.
What ingredients are in this salad?
- hard boiled eggs (make sure that the eggs are completely cold before adding to the salad)
- celery
- onion- sweet, white or red
- fresh dill
- mayonnaise (can be replace with the mayonnaise of your choice or blended avocado)
- dijon mustard
- paprika
- celery salt (*secret ingredient to bring the flavor profile to the next level* Can be replaced with regular salt, however if you have celery salt, just do it and thank me later)
- ground black pepper
How to make egg salad?
- Prepare dressing in a mixing bowl. Add mayonnaise, dijon mustard, parika, celery salt, and ground pepper.
- Finely dice onion, celery, and dill and add to the dressing.
- Peel cooled eggs and roughly chop. Add to the dressing and mix.
- Place in refrigerator to merry for a minimum of 30 minutes before serving.

A quick step by step guide on how to make the perfect hard boiled eggs. You can identify overcooked eggs by the dark ring around the yolk when opening. Over cooking your eggs will change the flavor immensely. Follow this easy guide and you will have perfect hard boiled eggs every time.
- Place eggs in a single layer in a large pot of cold water.
- Bring the water to a boil, then cover pot with a lid, and remove from heat.
- Let them steam in the hot water for 8 minutes.
- Carefully remove eggs and place in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
What to serve with egg salad ?
A scoop of this egg salad goes great on a bed of lettuce (iceberg or spring greens) if you are trying to keep it naturally gluten free and clean.
It is also great stuffed inside an avocado or tomato.
If you prefer, it is classically eaten as a sandwich. To make it gluten free, place between 2 pieces of your favorite gluten free bread.
How to store egg salad?
Egg salad should be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container and not left out longer than 2 hours for food safety concerns. Egg salad tends to get watery the next day from the celery so be sure to mix well before serving again. It is best to use within 3 days time.

- 1 knife
- 1 serving platter
- 1 large pot
Ingredients
- 8 eggs
- ¼ cup celery finely chopped
- ¼ cup white onion finely chopped
- 2 TBSP dill finely chopped

- Start by hard boiling your eggs. Place 10 eggs in a large pot in cold water. Bring to a boil, cover, and remove from heat. Let them steam in the hot water for 8 minutes. Drain water and place eggs in cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside while you prepare the rest.
